PLEASE STAY AT HOME AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE The Coronavirus is changing our lives. But we as a community will get through this difficult period. We should all behave as if we already have the virus. While there's only some confirmed cases in our region, more people could be spreading the virus undetected. Our region has MANY vulnerable residents, but FEW hospital beds to treat patients. So we must work together to keep the number of cases down. Please stay at home where possible. If you must leave your house, keep your distance from others and wash your hands regularly. I understand this is an extremely difficult for many of you, who are losing income. We are lobbying furiously for the government to provide immediate cash support to all small businesses and families, to get them through this pandemic. I'm also pushing for more people to be tested, and for backup plans if we have a big increase in virus cases. We may need to use other buildings - outside our hospitals - to isolate and treat patients. I've called on all councils, health authorities and governments to work together and identify these spaces now.
